I know a young lady who recently defriended a bunch of her Facebook friends. I think she’s down to about one hundred. Now, there’s nothing wrong with only having a small number of social media friends. However, if you want to be popular, the more, the better, both in “real life” and in social media.
Some people, probably adults, will tell you that you can’t really have hundreds of Facebook friends. While it is difficult to have hundreds (or thousands) of intimate friendships, having hundreds of people at your fingertips is a great blessing. You should never, ever forget that!
Being on social media and having lots of friends or followers there gives you access to tons of people. You can make them laugh and like you, be there for them when they need it, and take advantage of opportunities they may offer (like if they have an extra concert ticket). Cutting down your friends list or refusing to expand your social media circle only ensures that other people will take advantage of the opportunities, not you.
So, if you want to be popular, don’t be like the young lady (formerly) on my friends list. Make sure to expand, not reduce, your social circles.
