Bad smell can be a huge turnoff. It’s especially the case if you’re a guy and you want to date a girl. You may not even notice that you smell, but I’m sure everyone else around you knows. Smell is one of those issues that could ruin your chances at popularity even if you’re doing everything else right.
Fortunately, we’re here to help. Below are our five ways to smell your best. They may seem like common sense, but for some people, they’re not. Even if you know them, you have to make sure to practice them.
They say “you are what you eat.” When it comes to smell, it could be “you smell like you eat.” What you put in your body has to come out eventually. It doesn’t just happen when you go to the bathroom. Your food and drink leaves through the skin through sweat too.
If you eat a lot of strong foods like garlic or a lot of chemical filled junk, you likely won’t have a very good natural smell. Start eating more fruits and vegetables and less sweets and you’ll instantly smell better. Also, some foods can help your internal smell like parsley and yogurt.
It sound simple, but to smell good you’ll need to shower. Do it at least daily, especially if you’re active in sports and exercise. Bacteria can build up in certain areas and can create bad smells. Washing those areas stops the smell. I recommend showering in the morning that way you’re fresh when you’re around your friends (and potential friends) for the day.
While showering is essential, deodorant acts as a second line of defense. That way when the smell starts, there’s something there to mask it. Apply it to the underarms in the morning and anytime throughout the day you need it. If you feel particularly rank after gym class, then slap some on.
Use Perfume and Cologne
This allows you to not only mask bad smell, but to substitute it with good smell. There are thousands of different scents. Try them at a store, then pick one that fits your personality. Lots of people may actually like smelling you, which is always a plus.
Let me give a word of warning about cologne and perfume: a little goes a long way. Use just a spray or two each morning. Even good scents can be overwhelming in high amounts.
Wash Your Clothes
You can clean your body as much as you like, but if you throw a dirty shirt and underwear on top of it, then you’ll still stink. Make sure you wash your clothes regularly. If you have a favorite T-Shirt, wear it for a day, then wash it before you wear it again.
A good rule is wear shirts, skirts, and underwear for one day only, then wash them. Pants and dresses may be worn a couple days before washing.
