Likely you’re well into your summer break and you might be bored out of your mind or failing at whatever goal you might have set (like getting in great shape). Or you might not have even set any goals! However, it’s not too late to turn around your summer.
Summer is a great time for teens because you have so much freedom to accomplish great things. Many adults wish we had all day to have fun or better ourselves. For example, my golf skills have to wait for evenings and weekends. If you want to get better at golf, then you have all day during summer to perfect that swing.
So, you should try to make your summer break count. If you haven’t set any goals, then do it now. Get in shape, learn an instrument, hang out with your friends, etc. Start now if you can. Now is the time when it’s still not too late to join a sports team or get a summer job either.
Start today by writing down a few goals. For each goal, write down some strategies to achieve those goals. For example, if you want to make the basketball team this fall, then write it down on a piece of paper or the computer. Next, list ways to achieve it. It could be practicing alone an hour a day and playing ten hours of pickup basketball throughout the week.
Whatever you decide, what matters is that you pick something. Even hanging out with friends or meeting new ones is better than sitting around playing video games or watching TV.
Now it’s time to get off your butt and accomplish something this summer. It’s not about building character (although that’s not a bad thing). By bettering yourself and meeting new people, you’ll be more high value. That means greater success in the present (and future) and being more popular.
