Like attracts like. You may have heard that in science class. However, it isn’t just true with tiny particles. It’s also true with human beings. That can be both a good and bad thing depending on your current personality.
Look at people around your school or even in your own family. Chances are that those who are negative, unhappy, and complain all the time hang out with other people who are negative, unhappy, and complain a lot. On the other hand, the people you know who are relaxed and cool probably hang out with other cool and relaxed individuals.
That’s because our attitudes play a big role in the type of people we attract into our lives. I used to work with a lady who was extremely bitter and angry. As a happy, upbeat, confident person, I had absolutely no desire to be around her. However, the people just like her did (and it wasn’t very many).
For any teen wanting to be more popular, like attracts like is an important lesson. If you are unpopular and unhappy with lousy friends, you may have to look, not at the people around you, but at yourself. Maybe the people around you (or more accurately the people who aren’t around you) are only there because of your attitude!
You may need to ask yourself some tough questions. What are your personality traits? Are they ones people like and value? Or is your personality bland or even offensive towards other people? I’ll bet that if you’re unpopular, your personality isn’t fun, confident, and exciting.
So, if you want to have more friends and get some interest from the opposite sex, look at how you think and act. It may help to write down some of your traits on one side of a piece of paper, then write down traits you value in friends and dates on the other side of the paper.
Do they match? If they don’t, that means you don’t have the traits that you desire in other people. So, why would people with positive traits want to be around you?
From this point forward, try to make your personality line up with the characteristics you value in other people. If you want to date someone who is good looking and charming, then try to be better looking and more charming.
Remember, like attracts like. So, try to be more like the people you want around you. If you can accomplish this, then you’ll be more popular than you’ve ever been!
